Making a return to botanical illustration for this months PATREON painting lesson together, our focus is on the delights of the hyacinth. With spring in air… almost… I feel renewed and inspired and coming across these wonderful hyacinths last week, the air heady with the aroma of flowers on mass, i jumped right into the subject for Septembers botanical painting tutorial, which goes live on September 8th. I hope youll enjoy whats in store as much as I have!

This tutorial focusses on this gorgeous subject, but what about its complexity youre wondering? Well no fear. In this lesson I am breaking a complex subject into layers of simple colour use, walking you through the process one step at a time to help you understand so much more about our approaches, the medium and the techniques needed to create a beautiful hyacinth botanical painting for yourself. Its all about having fun and enjoying the process, along with the learning of course so pop your anxieties aside as we step into this comprehensive watercolour journey together, just in time for the spring.

This course is designed to break a complex task up into manageable, digestible and completely doable steps and stages, as all my online painting tutorials do. With the break down, we will be simplifying colours and its use down too, allowing you to place your focus clearly on improving and refining your subtle balances of technique and timing. Repetition allows you to practice, repeat, improve and cement your hand, building familiarity with your subject, the medium and the techniques used in this craft. Its a great all rounder, and a tutorial that will help you to improve not only your botanical painting skills, but your painting skills across the board.

Starting with our reference and inspiration, we work through every stage from drawing to rendering, refining and completion. We also take a quick extra look at the basic process of composition for this study as a bonus. Ive really enjoyed the subject, the painting and creating this botanical painting tutorial for you. I am looking forward to sharing it with you over on my Patreon Channel, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you create from it too.

If youd like to join us, wed love to have you on board. Patreon not only supports creatives like me to keep creating, it allows me to continue teaching my craft to others such as yourself, so get on board and invest yourself in the things you love, unplug and get creative with me.
