‘Gouldian Finch and Lotus’ is in my 15x15cm series of small bird studies in watercolour. I adore this subject and because I was so torn on whether to illustrate the black headed Gouldian Finch or the Red, and because I enjoyed this one so much, I think I will go ahead and create the red headed option next. I love the lotus in this piece too. The tiniest lotus I ever saw, Ive been keen to illustrate this subject since I first laid eyes on it and it seemed the perfect accompaniment to this little finch.
