Black Cockatoo Painting Workshop – Gold Coast

Black Cockatoo Painting Workshop – Gold Coast

Ive just returned home from a really special week, teaching a wonderful group of students all about bird painting in watercolour, our focus being the extra tricky Black Cockatoo. Quite possibly the most challenging subject weve tackled in any face to face event, my students, some having never painted before, absolutely rose to the challenge over the 5 days. I couldnt be more grateful for the chance to work with you all or more proud of your efforts, attitudes and such well deserved outcomes, and I thank you for a brilliant week together 🙏🏻

The Black Cockatoo really has it all, and we left no stone unturned, dipping our toes into practicing every strategy, technique and approach, colour, materials, texture, a whole range of watercolour application options, learning everything we could about bird painting on a larger scale with just gorgeous results. Honestly, the works speak for itself.

Between class time i lapped up the beauty of the Gold Coast and found myself really just immersed in watching the changing ocean view and vast, sweeping skies rising and falling with each new day and before I knew it, our paintings and our week was complete!

As I head off to prepare for this weeks Melbourne ‘Macaw Portrait’ Workshop, Id like to thank Artable for hosting us, and Andrew Haysom for allowing us to work from his stunning photography for this workshop. Mostly, Id like to thank you, my wonderful students. I hope to see you again soon ✨🙏🏻 I hope youll enjoy sharing our week and work with this post, and if youd like to see more on this event, pop in to my Patreon Community, or my YouTube Channel for a little insight clip as well.
