Sturt’s Desert Pea Botanical Illustration ~ Australian Geographic Magazine Issue 130 – SOLD
This A4 watercolour painting is the second in a series of 8 paintings featured in the January/February issues Nature Watch section of this publication. The illustrations depict our beautiful, diverse Australian Floral Emblems. The fascinating Sturt’s Desert Pea is the state flower for South Australia. This was an incredibly challenging subject to tackle with its glossy black eyes, vibrant reds, furry leaves and the deliciously complex palette in the fading blooms, but I enjoyed every bit of this piece!
