Welcome to this months beautiful painting lesson! I am truly delighted to bring you another opportunity to explore the beauty of nature and realistic watercolour painting, a perfect marriage of inspiration and medium to continue learning from. Our focus in this lesson is the elegant and graceful Lilium flower, a subject both rich in form and vibrant in colour, offering a wonderful balance of botanical painting techniques and creative possibility that speaks deeply to those of us passionate about flowers and realistic watercolour.
The Lilium’s wonderful, large and flowing petals provide us with an ideal opportunity to practice my 3 watercolour painting techniques, of wash, glaze and dry brushing in combination, to really bring our lilium to life. Although we have a wonderful cross section of all things to learn in this subject, I really want to focus on glazing in this lesson, building our flower up in layers to build depth, form and intensity with intention and confidence.
