2025’s Painting Retreat has just been confirmed
Our very special PAINTING RETREAT event is all set to go again for 2025, and what a treat were in for! This unique and completely immersive event is not just about the painting… though were ALL about the painting! What could be better than a week of painting hey? Well, this experience all takes place in such a peaceful, restorative location, tucked away in the sweeping beauty of Tasmanias north east corner that youd go just for the sights.
Our accommodation is a newly renovated 100 year old pub, our host – Gillian form Artable of course! Yep, you get your own room and most have their own bathroom too. Yes! The pub has a bar, but also a restaurant, so we are well cared for on the food front, for sure. The gardens there, and everywhere are stunning, especially as were staying to celebrate the spring in perfect timing. Our studio is on site and yes, you can come and go as you please, with class running each day.
We explore the local area, connect to the beautiful environment, earth and fresh air, resting in the flower gardens abuzz with bumblebees you can chase for hours, and of course – theres the excellent company we keep, meeting, learning and creating new things with new people around so many things we love. Ive seen so many beautiful friendships and connections stem from these wonderful workshops, for my students and myself i might add 💕
Back to the painting though… Here you will be combining field trips in nature for inspiration with studio work to create natural history drawings and watercolour painting studies together. Theres lots to learn and lots to enjoy. Youll be under my wing for the week and I cant wait!
‘Unique lichens and moss grow next to crystal clear streams amidst giant eucalypts and tiny wildflowers known only to this region. Giant eagles soar in the skies whilst little finches dart around the forest floor. This part of Tasmania will speak to every artist on every level. All this ‘paired with one of Australia’s most renowned watercolour and natural history artists Heidi Willis, this retreat is not to be missed’
