Bird Painting Workshop In Watercolour – Sunshine Coast Recap

This years Sunshine Coast, Small Birds painting workshop took on one of the most complex but stunningly beautiful small bird subjects I can think of in the Rainbow Bee-Eater. This spectacular creature has it all, wild colours, complex and varied, intricate textures, tiny features, along with long, sweeping line work around the wing and incredible long tail feathers. Can we do it? Yes we can.

What better time and place to give it a try than in a face to face, guided workshop? Where better to capture this beautiful bird than their local habitat, and to top it off, we worked from my friend and photographer Pete Evans, who lives just down the road from our bright, BienartΓ© studio. Certainly we walked through the process every step of the way, rode through the collective sighs of challenge to the giggles of overcoming, to create some truly wonderful work.

I saw the unsteady steady, the uncertain become certain, with a world of growth and learning along the way. I must thank my students for rising to this beautiful challenge and congratulate you all for your efforts resulting in such wonderful results. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you all.

With 4 new Brisbane/Sunshine Coast workshops just confirmed with BienartΓ© for 2026, I really look forward to seeing you there again, or perhaps for the first time soon. The listings are yet to be refined as theyre so new, but the first 3 have just gone up now, and are live for bookings… Ill share more on those soon, but I wanted you to hear those opportunities here first
