Superb Wren & Sarsaparilla In Watercolour – 15×15 cms – SOLD
Ive been working away on this complex wren study, capturing a classic Australian bush life story in watercolour for a little while now, but today it is complete and ready to share with you. Every painting has its own story and uniqueness, this final painting capturing a local favourite bird of ours, the Superb Wren amongst a Sarsaparilla in full flower, which smothers patches of my local bush in spring so beautifully. Its a beautiful combination.
Joining my 15x15cm series of small bird studies in watercolour, it sold before completion and is now off to its new home to be properly appreciated. In the flesh its so full of subtlety and delicate, beautiful colours, inevitably lost here online, but i so enjoyed playing with this gorgeous palette, dipping in and out of my purples, blues and warm earth tones. The pop of blue in the wren brings a lovely fresh element to the mix, along with the fresh, luxuriously green leaves… another point of difference in this story.
Here we see the wren completed, which is now being used in isolation for a client, before taking it further into a new life and form in a developed painting. You can see Ive added the graphite drawing of the surroundings to the story, setting a challenging, complex task ahead for me… just as it is in real life, and just as I love to explore nature.
This series is such a wonderful collection, each a deep dive into subject, medium and the nth degree of technical watercolour painting challenge to keep pushing my skills forward, creating and capturing beautiful things, moments and memories in time for all to enjoy. Ive lost track of how many Ive created in this collection, but itd be around the 50 mark now, with all but one sold.
The next is sold already too, their popularity coming thanks to their perfect size, beauty and their affordability. If youre interested in this collection and youd like to discuss some ideas and options just right for you, lets have a chat about your thoughts and loves and get started! Payment plans are available which work very well for many, and i just adore working on this series too. In any case, I hope youll enjoy this painting here with me now.
